Way to Go, Sera

Hey, so, good news, I just found out I may have been underdosing myself by 50% on the spironolactone because I thought they had just bumped up the dosage of the tablet itself, like they did with the estradiol, instead of changing the directions to take twice the tablets, and doubling the dosage per tablet, which is what they actually did.  That probably explains why my boobs stopped growing as quickly.

The endocrinology office administrator called me up to tell me I would have to move my upcoming appointment from 4/3 to 4/10, because, after I’d scheduled my appointment, their entire cadre of specialists was scheduled to go to a training seminar or something.  But since the appointment date moved by a week, that put me past the 90-day supply on my prescriptions, so we started talking about those to make sure I’d have enough.

I have the right amount of estradiol left (not quite enough), way more medroxyprogesterone than I need (because they had initially messed up my prescription and written a “two tablets daily” script for 90 days, and then given me only 90 tablets), and also way too much spironolactone.  I read the directions more closely, and saw my mistake.  The admin is going to have the prescribing doctor call me to make sure that underdosing on that by half in the mix that they’ve established for me will not put me at any sort of risk for anything, other than slower development.

But wait, there's more!  When I was at my last appointment, I asked the doctor if I could just double my existing pills to equal the new levels, to start sooner, and she said I could.  This means that I took two 1mg estradiol tabs,  two 50mg spironolactone tabs, the continued to take the same two 2.5mg medroxyprogesterone tabs.  However, because of the timing of the appointment and all, that ended up being about a week's worth of that before I was onto the new tablets.  That meant, I thought, one 2mg estradiol, one 100mg spironolactone, and the medroxyprogesterone.

However, the label says, "TAKE ONE TABLET BY MOUTH EVERY DAY FOR 7 DAYS," which is about how many days of 2x 50mg I had, and then it goes on to say "THEN TAKE ONE TABLET TWICE A DAY," which would fit that timeline if she meant that I should ramp up from 50mg to 200mg by sitting at 100mg for a week or so.

Anyway, I ruminated aloud that that might explain why I have been having slower breast development than I had initially seen on what was described as a “very low dose” of everything.  The admin got upset and said, “whoa, whoa, I don’t need to know all that, I’m just the administrator, you can tell all that to your doctor.”  I apologized for upsetting her.  But I did wonder if she would’ve said the same thing to a cis woman, and if so, if her reaction would've been anywhere near as negative.
